Former England coach Sven Goran Eriksson has been sacked form his post as manager of the Mexico international team, following a 3-1 defeat to Honduras in their World Cup qualifying group. Mexico are currently fourth in the group, if they remain in that position they will face a knock out game against the fifth placed team for a place in the World Cup finals.
Eriksson has been under immense pressure in the Mexico job, but bought himself some time with Saturdays win against Costa Rica when his team won 2-0. However Wednesday’s defeat leaves the Mexican team in a precarious position regarding the World Cup qualification and the Mexican Football Federation felt enough was enough.
No doubt the suave Swede will pocket another wad of cash from the Mexican FF as yet another contract is terminated and it looks likely that he will be looking for another chance in the Premier league.
“He would love to work in England again, I know that for a fact. I would say yes, his first choice would be a good Premier League club in England where he has a challenge.” said Eriksson’s personal manager Athole Still in a conversation with BBC Radio 5.
