But Keegan made it clear that he is in charge by telling BBC Radio Five Live:
“It will work very well. Dennis reports to me – the chain is established.”
Keegan said he was involved in the appointment with chairman Mike Ashley and that there were two or three other names suggested – I’m guessing one of those names would have been Alan Shearer.
Newcastle are yet to score in their three games under Kevin Keegan, though to be fair two of those games have been against a full strength Arsenal at The Emirates Stadium – games that no one would realistically expect Newcastle to win. But Newcastle Kevin Keegan and Dennis Wise, with or without Alan Shearer need to start scoring goals and winning games as they are now only seven points above the relegation zone.
Newcastle’s next game in the Premier League is not until Sunday 3rd February when they play host to north-east rivals Middlesborough- a must win game.
